To start the pilot light on a Firegear AF-1100 Valve Series, follow these steps:
1. Read Warnings: Carefully read all safety warnings and instructions in the manual.
2. Smell for Gas: Smell around the appliance area for gas, especially near the floor since LP gas is heavier than air.
3. Turn Off Gas Control Knob: Push the gas control knob slightly and turn it clockwise to the "OFF" position. Do not force it.
4. Turn On Manual Shut-Off Valve: Slowly turn on the gas at the manual shut-off valve next to the fireplace.
