PROBLEMS

Welding current too great or too
small compared to indication on the
dial.
Welder has output and no control
If for any reason you do not understand the test procedures or are unable to perform the tests/repairs safely, contact your Local
Lincoln Authorized Field Service Facility for technical troubleshooting assistance before you proceed.
TROUBLESHOOTING
Observe all Safety Guidelines detailed throughout this manual
POSSIBLE
FUNCTION PROBLEMS
1. "Current Control" shaft and handle
may have turned slightly in the
insulated bushing of the current
control brushholder, caused by
turning handle too hard against
one of the stops.
2. Exciter output low causing low
output compared to dial indica-
tion.
3. "Current Control" set to minimum
and welder output so great that
engine stalls when arc is struck.
1. Local/Remote switch is in wrong
position.
CAUSE

RECOMMENDED
COURSE OF ACTION
1. With current control against the
minimum stop, set pointer to with-
in 1/8" of the last scale division.
2. Check for shorts in exciter arma-
ture with growler.
3. Check to see that series field is
properly connected and not short-
ed.
1. Place switch in "LOCAL" position
to control output at the welder.
Place switch in "REMOTE" posi-
tion to control output remotely.
