System Installation
This chapter provides users with instructions of system hardware and software installation. Additional information is
enclosed also to help users understand the setup of the on-board PCI device and handle the Watchdog Timer (WDT).
3.1 Intel
ATOM™ CPU
®
The built-in Mini-ITX board uses the Intel
microprocessor designed for mobility and utilizes a mobile-optimized chipset. Intel's mobile processor innovative design
techniques allow faster execution of instructions at lower power.
3.2 Main Memory
The built-in Mini-ITX board provides a 200-pin SODIMM socket which supports 667/5 DDR2 SDRAM as main memory,
Non-ECC (Error Checking and Correcting), and non-register functions. The maximum memory size can be up to 2 GB.
Memory clock and related settings can be detected by the BIOS via the SPD interface.
Be careful with the contact and lock integrity of the memory module within the socket. Failure to do so could impact the
system's reliability. Follow normal procedures to install a memory module into the memory socket. Before locking, make
sure that all modules have been fully inserted into the card slots.
NOTE:
To maintain system stability, please do not change any of the DRAM parameters in the BIOS setup to upgrade system
performance without acquiring proper technical information.
Memory frequency / CPU FSB synchronization
The on-board N270 Mini-ITX board supports different memory frequencies depending on the CPU front side bus and the
type of DDR2 SODIMM.
