Selecting a Monitor There are three monitors for the AurorA2000 system, the spot monitor and two main display monitors. The spot monitor is used as a monitoring station and does not have the capability of multi-picture display. Use the main display monitors to take advantage of all AurorA2000 features.

Setting the Time and Date Display Setting the time and date for your AurorA2000 is critical for proper reporting of alarms and other functions. You may set the system time and date using the Easy Time/Date Menu, available from the Easy Setup Menus, or by using the Time/Date Set Menus under the Time/Date Setup selection of the Main Menu.

When using Vicon’s proprietary AurorANet RS-485 protocol, you must establish which AurorANet device is at the end of the communications line and which devices are in the middle. You will use the Vicon-supplied RJ- 45 termination box labeled “AurorANet” in both cases.

AurorANet termination box is connected correctly. Resistors in the termination box should be removed if the AurorA2000 is not the last device in the RS-485 connection line. Resistors should be left as is for the last (end-of-line) device. Note that the Reference chapter includes information on setting jumpers inside the AurorA2000 as an alternative method to using the AurorANet termination box.
AurorA2000 multiplexers may be controlled by a PC or other host computer using the AurorA2000’s serial host protocol. You may connect and control up to 999 AurorA2000 multiplexers. You may also control up to 16 Vicon VCRs from a host computer. These VCRs must have a serial port option. Commands for the VCRs are documented in the appropriate VCR manual.

All commands must be followed by a <CR> or <CR><LF>. A <CR> is ASCII value 13 and a <LF> is ASCII value 10. Note: If you only have one AurorA2000 in your CCTV system, you do not need to send the Annn portion of the command format as discussed above. To replace the battery, remove the top cover and locate the battery, which is approximately 2 inches behind the Sequence key. Replace the battery with Vicon part number 8000-7228-01 or Panasonic CR1632.
Resetting the AurorA2000 If the AurorA2000 does not boot and run normally, you may need to force a return to the factory default configuration. Note that this will erase any passwords and restore all AurorA2000 settings back to the factory defaults.

Duplex 30 (one duplex option board), Duplex 60 (one duplex option board and an additional option board). The Mode Select field allows you to simulate an AurorA2000 with less option boards than you actually have (which may help during troubleshooting procedures).
Do I connect the clock pulse for AurorA2000 the same way as for AurorA99/AurorA? No. There is a 4-pin “Phoenix”-style connector labeled “VCR” on the rear panel of the AurorA2000 that will be used. Refer to the installation figures in this manual.

The VCR may be used to control the timing of camera switching during recording using the VCR clock signal. Vicon recommends 24 (or larger) gauge, twisted pair cable at a maximum distance of 100 feet. If the Alarm Aux Out connection is made, use 24 (or larger) gauge, twisted pair cable at a maximum distance of 1000 feet.

Determining the Fields per Clock Pulse Note: Vicon recommends using the clock connection to the VCR for efficiency, accuracy and improved refresh rate. Remove the top cover of the unit and disconnect ribbon cable J6, located in the right back of the main board (viewing the AurorA2000 from the front). Underneath the ribbon cable you will see the set of jumpers shown in the figure below. Using this table, place jumpers in the positions listed in order to define the com ports (remember that you do not have to do this unless you want to use RS-232 on COM2 or RS-422 on COM1).
