Major components of the expansion card

The NX2031 chip provides a PCI-Express local bus interface and two
completely independent 10 Gb serial Ethernet ports. Each port has a RISC
processor, an integrated serializer/deserializer (SERDES), a receive DMA
sequencer, a frame buffer, a five-channel DMA controller, and an internal
memory interface in a single-chip solution.

High-speed switch module

You must install a compatible high-speed switch module (HSSM), such as a
Nortel 10 Gb Ethernet Switch Module for IBM BladeCenter, in the BladeCenter
unit when you install a NetXen 10 Gb 2-Port Ethernet Expansion Card in the
blade server. For additional information, see Chapter 2, "Installing an
expansion card," on page 7.
For information about the types of compatible HSSMs for the IBM BladeCenter
unit, contact your IBM marketing representative or authorized reseller. For a
list of supported optional devices for the BladeCenter unit, see
http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/.
For details about Nortel HSSM installation, configuration, and use, see the
Nortel documentation that comes with the Nortel HSSM. This documentation
is listed under "Related documentation" on page 4.
