Fuel Filter
Air Cleaner
Gasolineand itsvaporsare extremelyflammableand explosive.Fire
or explosioncan causesevereburnsor death.
Keepgasolineawayfrom sparks,open flames,pilotlights,heat,
and otherignition sources.
Checkfuel lines, tank,cap, and fittingsfrequentlyforcracks or
leaks.Replaceif necessary.
Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drain the fueltank as per the
instructions below.
Do notdrain fuel whenthe engine ishot. Allowthe engine
adequatetime to cool. Drainfuel intoan approvedcontainer
outdoors,away fromopen flame.
Drainanylarge volumeof fuelfrom the tank by disconnecting the
fuel linefrom the in-linefuelfilter near theengine.
Removethe fuel line from the In-lineside (sidetowardsthe fuel
tank)of thefuel filter.
Replacement p arts mustbe the sameand installedin the same
positionas theoriginal parts.
If fuel spills,wait until itevaporatesbeforestartingengine.
Beforereplacingthe fuelfilter,drain the fueltank. Otherwisefuel
can leakout and causea fireor explosion.
To Drainthe fuel:
1.
Locatethefuelfilter,whichis routedon the left sideofthe engine
between the fueltankand the carburetor, and maybe attachedto
theenginewitha tie strap.Cutthetie strap,ifpresent,then pinch
thein-lineclampon thefuelfilterwith a pairof pliers,slidethe
clampup thefuelline.Pullthe fuellinefreefrom thefilterand place
theopenend of the lineintoan approvedcontainer to drainthefuel.
To changethe fuel filter:
1.
Usepliersto squeezethe tabs on the otherclamp (theout-line
sideof the fuel filter),thenslidethe clamp awayfromthe fuel filter.
Twistand pull the fuellineoff of the fuelfilter.See Figure10.
2.
Checkthe fuel linesfor cracksor leaks.Replaceif necessary.
3.
Replacethe fuel filter withan originalequipmentreplacement
filter.Call1-800-4-MY-HOME® to purchasethe originalequip-
ment replacement f ilter.
4.
Securethe fuel lineswith the clamps.
Iffilters,or coversare notinstalled correctlyseriousinjury or death
could resultfrom backfire.Do notattemptto startthe enginewith
them removed.
Donot use pressurized air or solventsto cleantheair cleaner
cartridge.
1.
Removethe air filter cover.
2.
To removethe air filter,lift the end of thefilter.See Figure11.

Removethe pre-cleanerfrom the filter.
4.
Toloosendebris,gentlytapthefilter on a hard surface.If the filteris
excessivelydirty,replacewith a newfilter.
5.
Washthe pre-cleanerin liquid detergentand water.Allowitto
thoroughlyair dry. Do not oil the pre-cleaner.
6.
Assemblethe dry pre-cleanerto the filter.
7.
Installthe filter intothe enginebaseand pushdown untilthe filter
snaps in place.
8.
Installthe cover.
