PROGRAMMING

NOTICE: If this Security ✚
measure in the receiver of the garage door opener, which provides security against code-theft devices, will be
circumvented. The owner of the copyright in the garage door opener does not authorize the purchaser or
supplier of the non-rolling code transmitter to circumvent that technical measure.
Your garage door opener has already been programmed at the factory to operate with your hand-held remote
control. The door will open and close when you press the large push button.
Below are instructions for programming your opener to operate with additional Security✚
Your garage door opener receiver and remote control
transmitter have been set at the factory to a matching
code. The door will open when you press the LEFT
remote control push button.
Your SECURITY✚ ® opener will operate with:
• several SECURITY✚ ® remote controls (with yellow
indicator lights) and
• one Keyless Entry System (with SECURITY✚
Your 972AD remote control can activate two separate
garage door openers, gate openers, entryways and/or
light controls. (Instructions for programming light
products are included with those accessories.)
Both push buttons work with receivers having a yellow
indicator light. The rolling code between this channel and
the receiver changes with each use, randomly accessing
over 100 billion new codes.
The push button on the right may be used with a non-
SECURITY✚ ® receivers. While it cannot program that
receiver, its code can be matched to other CGI
manufactured fixed code or billion code remotes. In this
case, the code between this channel and the receiver
remains constant until reprogrammed.
Follow the instructions below to program your opener to
match any additional remotes you may purchase.

TO ADD AN ADDITIONAL HAND-HELD
REMOTE CONTROL
USING THE "LEARN" BUTTON
1. Press and hold the left remote control push button
(Figure 1).
2. Then press and release the "Smart" (learn) button on
the motor unit (Figure 2). The learn indicator light on
the panel will begin to blink and the motor unit lights
will flash.
3. Release the remote push button.
Now the opener will operate when that remote control
button is pressed.
USING THE "MULTI-FUNCTION DOOR CONTROL
1. With the door closed, press and hold the left remote
push button.
2. Press and hold the Light button on the door control.
3. Press and hold the door control push bar.
4. After the motor unit lights blink, release all buttons.
Test by pressing the remote push button.
To Erase All Codes From Motor Unit Memory
To deactivate any unwanted remote, first erase all codes:
Press and the hold "learn" button on motor unit until the learn indicator light goes out
(approximately 6 seconds). All previous codes are now erased. Reprogram each remote or keyless
entry you wish to use.

When Several Remotes operate One Device
To match the 972AD to another CGI manufactured
remote's code (Remote Control X):
1. With the 972AD bottom side up, press and hold both
push buttons until the yellow indicator light begins to
blink. It will blink for 30 seconds; during this time it is
in "learn" mode.)
2. While it is in learn mode, hold both transmitters back
to back with the FCC labels touching, then
3. Press and hold the Remote Control X push button as
you slowly slide the remotes across each other until
the 972AD indicator light blinks very rapidly, indicating
it has learned the code. (If Remote Control X is also
a 972AD, you must press and hold its right push
button.)
Now the device will operate when the right push button
is pressed.
This code will remain inside the remote control until
replaced with a new code by repeating the above steps.
To Control the Opener Lights
With SECURITY✚ transmitters, a remote push button
can be programmed to operate the opener lights without
opening the door.
1. With the door closed, press and hold the remote
button that you want to control the light.
2. Press and hold the Light button on the door control.
3. Press and hold the Lock button on the door control.
4. After the opener lights flash, release all buttons.
Test by pressing the remote push button. The opener
lights should turn on or off but the door should not
move.
