Escalade Hybrid Presentation Tips
Hybrid-Specific Noises
• Hybrids have normal, unique sounds (whirring, blowing, hum-
ming) based on the various operating system components and
conditions
— Electric traction motors in transmission
— Electric air conditioning compressor
— Electro-hydraulic brake pump (recharges the accumulator
pressure)
— Electric cooling fans
Hybrid Unique Driving Characteristics
• When starting the vehicle, if a driver shifts the transmission be-
fore the vehicle start-up sequence is completed, the engine may
not actually start.
• Transition from electric only to engine start may feel like a
transmission downshift.
• To avoid discharging the 12-volt system, recommend starting
the ignition and leaving the key in the On position for operating
accessory features for extended periods of time (radio, DVD,
tailgating situations, etc.).
Overview
• Escalade Hybrid is the world's first full-size hybrid luxury SUV,
offering fuel consumption ratings of up to 20 city and 21 high-
way on the RWD model
• Two-Mode Hybrid system is designed to increase fuel effi-
ciency in both city and highway driving. The competition only
improves city fuel economy
The first mode: Used for low speeds and stop and go traffic,
may use electric power only to propel the Escalade Hybrid up to
30 mph. Depending on vehicle demands, the Escalade Hybrid
may also run on engine power only or a combination of engine
power and electric power simultaneously
The second mode: Used during highway driving and for higher
powertrain loads. The vehicle may operate using both engine
and electric power simultaneously or when conditions warrant
— trailering, passing, etc. - it may run on engine power only. In
addition, if engine loads are light Active Fuel Management will
be used to increase fuel economy by reducing fuel consump-
tion
How it Works
• Auto Stop: At stop signs and red lights the engine will shut off
conserving fuel and emitting no emissions
• Electric Mode: During city driving and stop-and-go traffic the
Escalade Hybrid may be powered by just electricity from the hy-
brid electric motors and the 300-volt battery
• Gas Mode: If vehicle demands are high enough, the Escalade
Hybrid may be powered by just the gas engine
• Gas Mode with AFM: During highway driving if vehicle loads
are light, the Escalade will engage AFM and run on just four o
the eight cylinders to reduce fuel consumption
• Hybrid/Blended Mode: The Escalade Hybrid may use both elec-
tricity from the hybrid motors and 300-volt battery simultane-
ously with the gas engine
• Regenerative Braking Mode: The Escalade Hybrid will use re-
generative braking to capture some energy naturally lost during
braking and coasting and store it in the 300-volt battery for fu-
ture use. This stored energy will be used to propel the vehicle in
city driving and the hybrid/blended mode.
Up Front
• High Intensity Discharge headlamps with Twilight Sentinel
provide outstanding road illumination and safety
• Standard IntelliBeam automatically switches the headlamps
from high beam to low beam and back again when taillamps or
oncoming headlamps are detected
Under the Hood
• Electric accessories reduce draw on the engine for efficiency.
Includes electric air conditioning, heater coolant pump and vari-
able-effort power steering
• 6.0L Vortec V8 engine with LIVC (Late Intake Valve Closing),
Variable Valve Timing and Active Fuel Management
power and efficiency. Produces 332 horsepower at 5100 rpm
and 367 lb.-ft. of torque at 4100 rpm.
• 5-year/160,000-km Powertrain Component Warranty includes
Roadside Assistance and Courtesy Transportation for peace of
mind
• 8-year/160,000-km hybrid-specific component warranty for
peace of mind
Passenger Side
• 22-inch, 7-spoke chromed aluminum wheels provide a bold
appearance
• Magnetic Ride Control uses magnetic damper fluid. Real-time
damping produces exceptional ride and handling
At the Rear
• Rearview camera allows the driver to view objects behind the
vehicle on the navigation screen
• Locking rear differential provides maximum traction
Driver Side
• Electric power steering runs off its own intermediate-voltage
continuous 42-volt power source. Variable-effort and a rack-
mounted motor provide precise feel and easy manoeuverability
• Side Blind Zone Alert is designed to help provide drivers more
time to react to obstacles that may be difficult to see in the side
mirror. Standard
Interior
• 300-volt Nickel Metal Hydride Energy Storage System is
housed under the 2nd-row seats and does not interfere with
3rd-row access, the flat load floor or cargo room. The battery
pack starts the vehicle and powers the electric motors and
several accessories. Depowers if tampered with, for safety
• Navigation system with rearview camera, Bose 5.1 Cabin

• XM Satellite Radio, with a wide variety of programming, has
something to excite any driver
• USB port in center console can connect, charge and control
iPods. MP3 players and memory sticks plug in (but cannot be
controlled using the radio buttons)
• Bluetooth phone interface allows the driver to make hands-free
cell phone calls within the vehicle
• Available rear-seat DVD entertainment system includes 8-
inch screen and 2 wireless headphones
• Standard sunroof features express open and close
• 12-way power front bucket seats include 4-way power lumbar,
memory for 2 drivers and independent heated seat cushions
and seatbacks
• Standard heated and cooled front seats deliver conditioned air
through perforated surfaces in the bottom and back
