Any settings that you change in the System, MIDI or Sound menu will take immediate effect on a global basis, and will be stored until you change
them the next time. Enter the menus by pressing and holding Shift and the System, MIDI or Sound button (Slot A - C buttons). The A-C LED above
the buttons will turn yellow and start blinking. Select a function by turning the Program Dial and change the setting by holding Shift and turn the
Program Dial at the same time. Exit the menus by pressing a second time on any Slot button.

System Menu

1 - Memory Protect

The Memory Protect setting determines if Programs and Performances
can be stored to the Nord Lead A1 memory or not. The setting is On
when the Nord Lead A1 leaves the factory.

System, MIDI and Sound menu settings are not protected.
Range: On (default), off
2 - Transpose
This setting can transpose the pitch of the Nord Lead A1 up or down in
semitone steps.

The MIDI output will not be transposed.
Range: -/+ 6 semitones (default = 0).

3 - Fine Tune

This setting fine tunes the pitch of the Nord Lead A1.
Range: -/+ 50 cent (default = 0).

4 - Sustain Pedal Polarity

Change the polarity of a connected sustain pedal, in case the func-
tionality of the pedal is reversed. The Auto setting will determine what
polarity a connected pedal has.
Range: Auto (default), CL - Close, OP - Open.

5 - Wheel Mode

The Modulation Wheel can be set to control both Morph and Vibrato,
or as an exclusive Vibrato control.
Range: L1 Morph + Vibrato (default), L2 Vibrato.

6 - Ctrl Pedal Mode

A connected Control pedal can be used to control the Nord Lead A1
volume or as a Morph Controller.
Range: P1 Volume (default), P2 Morph.

The Menus

7 - Ctrl Pedal Type

Different models of control pedals have different specifications (resis-
tance, offset and linearity). The most commonly used pedals are pre-
configured in the Nord Lead A1, select the type you use.
Range: R5 (Roland EV-5, default) , R7 (Roland EV-7), Y7 (Yamaha
FC-7), K0 (Korg EXP-2 & XVP-10), Ft (Fatar & Studiologic VP/25)

8 - Ctrl Pedal Gain

Add some gain to the output of a connected Control pedal if it does
not reach the maximum level. Operating a connected control pedal will
display the output level from 0 to 100.
Range: 1 - 10 (default 1).

9 - Mutator Protect

When Mutator Protect is On, you need to confirm your intentions by
pressing Execute before the actual Mutate Sound or Randomize Sound
takes place.
Range: On, Off (default)

A B C D - Slot Output Routing

Route the Slots to the audio outputs of the Nord Lead A1. Slots can be
routed to output pairs (1-2 and 3-4), or single outputs.
E
Outputs 1 & 2 are routed to the headphones.
Ranges: 12 (default), 34, 1, 2, 3, 4.
