Geometry Adjustments - Philips 27G7 Service Manual

WHITE-TONE Adjustments
Note: The following procedure was performed with a Sencore VG91 Universal Video Generator providing grey
scale bars.
1. From the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu, highlight WHITE-TONE by pressing the Menu Up/Down keys on the
remote control.
2. Press the Menu Right/Left keys to enter the WHITE-TONE adjustments screen.
3. Set the VG91 Generator as follows: STD TV Ch. 3, RF-IF Range set to HI, RF-IF Level set to NORMAL
(1), Video Pattern = Raster, R-G-B raster controls OFF.
4. Connect the RF output of the generator to the Television Antenna Input, and adjust the VG91 level to
remove any snow from the raster.
5. Turn off chroma at generator and leave grey scale bars.
6. Use Menu Up/Down keys to toggle between COOL, WARM, and NORMAL color. Select NORMAL.
7. Use the Menu Left/Right keys to Highlight Red (R), Green (G), or Blue (B). Then use the Menu Up/Down
keys to adjust the R, G, and B values to obtain the best white balance.
A reasonable starting point for NORMAL is: R=32, G=32, B=32
8. After NORMAL is set, use the same procedure to adjust COOL and WARM as offsets.
A reasonable starting point for COOL is:
R=0, G=2, B=9
A reasonable starting point for WARM is:
R=0, G=253, B=245
9. When finished with adjustments, or if no changes are required, press the Menu button to return to the
ALIGNMENTS sub-menu.

GEOMETRY Adjustments

Notes:
1. The following Geometry adjustments were performed with a Sencore VG91 Universal Video Generator.
2. Set the VG91 Generator as follows: STD TV Ch. 3, RF-IF Range set to HI, RF-IF Level set to NORMAL
(1), Video Pattern = Raster, R-G-B raster controls OFF, crosshatch or center cross pattern as required.
1. From the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu, highlight GEOMETRY by pressing the Menu Up/Down keys on the
remote control.
2. Press the Menu Right/Left keys to enter the GEOMETRY adjustments screen.
Vertical Shift (VERSHIFT) Adjustment
1. From the GEOMETRY adjustments screen, use the Menu Up/Down keys to highlight VERSHIFT.
2. Input a center cross pattern to the antenna/cable input terminal.
3. Using the Menu Left/Right keys, adjust VERSHIFT so that the horizontal bar is properly centered.
4. If other GEOMETRY adjustments are needed, proceed to the necessary adjustment.
5. When finished with adjustments, or if no changes are required, press the Menu button to return to
the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu.
