Reload Default Sub-menu
Note: This option should be accessed only when the memory IC (IC 7088) is replaced. If the memory
IC is replaced, RELOAD DEFAULT is the starting point for all adjustments. After the RELOAD DEFAULT
command is executed, all alignments and adjustments must be performed.
1. Enter the Service Alignment Mode (SAM) by pressing the following key sequence on the remote control
transmitter:
0-6-2-5-9-6-Status
Do not allow the display to time out between entries while keying the sequence.
2. From the top level SAM menu, use the Menu Up/Down keys to highlight the RELOAD DEFAULT sub-
menu.
3. To enter the RELOAD DEFAULT sub-menu, press the Menu Left or Menu Right key.
4. The RELOAD DEFAULT sub-menu contains two items: LOAD NOW and DO NOT LOAD.
5. If reloading of default values is desired, use the Menu Up/Down keys to highlight LOAD NOW, then press
the Menu Left/Right keys to reload the values.
6. While the values are being loaded, the "LOAD NOW" text will change to "LOADING". When loading is
complete, the text will change back to "LOAD NOW".
7. If reloading of default values is not desired, use the Menu Up/Down keys to highlight DO NOT LOAD.
8. If no changes are required, press the Menu button to return to the top level SAM menu.
Alignments Sub-menu
1. Enter the Service Alignment Mode (SAM) by pressing the following key sequence on the remote control
transmitter:
0-6-2-5-9-6-Status
Do not allow the display to time out between entries while keying the sequence
2. From the top level SAM menu, use the Menu Up/Down keys to highlight the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu.
3. To enter the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu, press the Menu Left or Menu Right key.
4. The ALIGNMENTS sub-menu contains several sub-menus. All sub-menus of the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu
may not be present in particular models.
5. To exit the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu, press the Menu button to return to the top level SAM menu.

TUNER Adjustments

1. From the ALIGNMENTS sub-menu, highlight TUNER by pressing the Menu Up/Down keys on the
remote control.
2. To enter the TUNER adjustments screen, press the Menu Left or Menu Right key.
3. Press the Menu Up/Down keys to toggle between IF-PLL and AGC:
a. AFA and AFB cannot be accessed. They are status information items, for monitoring purpose only.
b. IF-PLL is a self-alignment and should not be disturbed.
4. Using the Menu Up/Down keys, select AGC.
5. Use the Menu Left/Right keys to raise AGC value until snow appears in the picture.
6. Then use the Menu Left/Right keys to reduce AGC value until the snow disappears.
a. AGC values between 10 and 20 are nominal.
b. Single digit AGC values may cause overload.
7. When finished with adjustments, or if no changes are required, press the Menu button to return to the
ALIGNMENTS sub-menu.
