These procedures are intended for new PC users, such as students, to help them to get started.

With the LCD screen open, you will see several important features necessary for operating your Intel- powered Classmate PC-Convertible. 1. Built-In Rotating Camera – use the built-in rotating camera for video-conferencing, photography and videography.

    Spill Resistance The Intel-powered Classmate PC-Convertible features a spill-resistance function on keyboard, power button, touch screen and touch pad buttons to ensure greater protection against spills. These are the ways to avoid damage to your system:  Save all important documents within 3-minutes.

    (this is commonly referred to as “booting” a computer). If your OS is installed, it should start automatically. To turn the Intel-powered classmate PC - Convertible off, save your work and close all open applications, click on “Start” and select “Shut down”, or lightly press the power button.

    The red battery status LED indicator blinks and the system beeps 3 times in 1.2 sec (each beeping lasts 200ms and then it goes off for 200ms before the next beep). When the Intel-powered Classmate PC- Convertible warns you of its low battery condition, you will have about three to five minutes to save your current work.

     Charging time for 6 cells (4400mAh) battery – the battery will be 70% charged in about 125mins and fully charged in about 240mins  Charging time for 6 cells (5200 mAh) battery – the battery will be about 70% charged in about 150mins and fully charged in about 300mins Note: If the system runs at heavy loads or in a high temperature environment, the battery may not be fully charged.

    Rotating the Display Panel Your computer can be rotated up to 180 degrees clockwise or counterclockwise. Fold it down with the display facing up to use it as a writing pad. You can rotate the screen horizontally or vertically to suit your needs.

    Note: If you start to rotate the display panel in a clockwise manner, to return it to its original position, turn it counterclockwise, and vice versa. To use the display panel as a writing pad Make sure that the display panel is rotated to 180 degrees. Hold the display panel’s upper corners and gently lower the display panel to the closed position.

    Entering the BIOS Setup Screen First, turn on the power. When the BIOS performs the POST (Power-On Self Test), press the DEL key quickly to activate the ‘Setup Utility’.
