By reducing engine speed and applying
the brakes if necessary, an ACC-equipped

behind a slower-moving vehicle in front of it.

ACC Operation
How ACC works is shown in the following
four traffic scenarios.
Steady speed
There are no vehicles driving ahead within
the distance regulator sensor detection
area. The cruise control speed set by the
driver is maintained.
Delay
When the ACC-equipped vehicle
approaches a slower-moving vehicle,
vehicle speed is reduced by reducing the
engine speed and, if necessary, through a
moderate application of the brakes.
The driver is prompted to take over the
braking operation if the gap between
vehicles is insufficient.
