Configuring the IP Interface

These instructions include information on how to
define an IP interface through which you can manage
your Switch 9300 system. An IP interface contains the
following parameters:
IP address — This address, which is specific to
your network, is used to manage the system. The
IP address defines both the number of the network
to which the interface is attached and its host
number on that network.
Subnet mask — This 32-bit number uses the
same format as an IP address. The subnet mask
determines which bits in the IP address are
interpreted as the network number, as the subnet
number, and as the host number. Each IP address
bit that corresponds to a 1 in the subnet mask is in
the network and subnet part of the address. Each
IP address bit that corresponds to a 0 is in the host
part of the IP address.

In-band Management

To set the IP interface parameters to manage the
system in-band:

From the top level of the Administration Console,
enter:
system ip interface define
Enter the IP address of the interface.

Enter the subnetwork mask of the subnet to which

the interface is to be connected.
Enter the interface type as:

Out-of-band Management

To set the IP interface parameters to manage the
system out-of-band:
From the top level of the Administration Console,
