SHO Performance Package
For the ultimate performance enthusiast,
there's the SHO Performance Package.
Think of this package as a "track pack"
with the necessary chassis components
for customers to take their Taurus SHO to
an autocross event or high-performance
driving event at a racetrack. Specifically
tuned struts deliver 10 to 15 percent more
rebound control than the "standard" SHO
sport-tuned suspension, Goodyear Eagle
F1 summer-compound performance tires
offer increased levels of traction, and
stiffer rear springs and larger rear stabilizer
bar help maintain better control of body
motions. These chassis enhancements
are designed to work in harmony — and
deliver improved vehicle balance in high-
performance driving conditions.

Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS) with
Drift Control
• Standard on SHO
• EPAS is a sophisticated electric speed-sensitive
steering assist system
– Offers light, responsive steering feel around town
and while parking
– At higher speeds, EPAS delivers less steering assist
for more confident control
• EPAS replaces the hydraulic gear system that pulled
power (and efficiency) from the engine via a belt
• Helps improve fuel economy and eliminate hydraulic
noises common with hydraulic systems
Drift Control
• An automatic system that uses EPAS to help
continuously correct for road irregularities and
improve overall steering feel
• System is continually "learning" and adapting to
steering conditions and compensates for changes
that can cause the vehicle to pull left or right
– Assists the steering effort to help the driver
maintain a straighter path
– Helps driver avoid unwanted lane changes (or drift)
• Reduces steering effort required when driving on
crowned roads or in heavy side winds
Qualifying the Race Car-like Ride
