4. If the tape was used to archive images, a screen with the following options
appears:
Append to the end of
the tape
Overwrite the images
on the tape
Use a different tape
NOTE: The unit always writes its name on the archive tape. Since all images on a
tape are identified with the same Intellex unit, we recommend that you
append images from only one Intellex unit to each tape.
The unit displays the Archive progress bar at the bottom of the main screen. The bar
indicates how much recording space has been used on the tape. Then you can
estimate when to insert a new tape.
NOTE: If an accidental interruption occurs during background archiving, see
Recovering from an Interruption
interrupts normal operation when the tape is full.
When the tape is full, the unit flashes the Alarms indicator on the front panel. It also
energizes alarm output 16 if the Message Alert option is selected (see
on page 116). The Tape is full screen appears.
a. After the unit ejects the tape, label it as indicated on the screen.
b. Insert a new tape. After the tape drive lights stop blinking, click Next. The unit
checks the new tape and continues the backup.

Stop Recording and Back Up Now

Select this option to stop recording and back up the image database immediately. This
is called foreground archiving because the unit interrupts normal operation and will
not record any images during the backup process. It archives in the "foreground."
1. Insert a backup tape (see
specifications).
2. After the tape drive lights stop blinking, click Next. The unit checks the tape.
3. If a tape problem occurs, the unit displays a message. Refer to the Intellex
Troubleshooting Guide to identify the appropriate action.

Select this option to continue the archive after the
last saved image on the tape. At times, an archive
operation may not fill a tape. This option lets you
use your archive tapes more fully.
Select this option to write to the tape as if it is
blank.
Select this option to eject the tape. Start over by
inserting another tape.
