Congratulations on your purchase of the EDIROL R-09 WAVE/MP3 Recorder. This
TurboStart contains step-by-step instructions that will quickly introduce you to the R-09's
major features.

Recording

The R-09 offers high-quality recording capabilities in a compact package. Here's how to
record in the R-09 using its built-in microphone:

adjust the level so the meter in the display averages between 12 and 6.

Listening to a Recording

Here's how to listen to a recording on the R-09:
Connect headphones to the headphones OPTICAL jack on the right side panel.

Tip:
To move backward or forward through the recording, press and hold the I 7 or 8 I
button, respectively.

Selecting a File for Playback

There are two different ways to select a file for playback. Here's how:
To select a file from the main screen:

I 7 or 8 I to select different files. As you press the buttons, the files are
selected and shown in the top of the display.

To select files while from the Finder screen:

Selecting the Recording Format

The R-09 has several different recording formats to choose from. For example, files
recorded at 48kHz/ WAV-24bit mode would have better sound quality than files recorded
at 44.1k/ MP3 192kpbs; however, they use up more memory. Here's how to change the
record format to the one that best suits your needs.
Press and hold FINDER/MENU until "SELECT" is flashing in the upper right corner

Press FINDER/MENU twice to return to the main screen.
Recording an External Audio Device (CD's, cassettes, etc.)
Almost any external audio device can be recorded to the R-09. Here's how:

Connect the output of the external audio device—CD player, Cassette player, mp3
player, etc.—to the LINE IN jack on the top panel of the R-09.
Adjust the volume on your external device and begin its playback.
