Trouble: Insufficient Heat

Check if circulator is
operational
Check thermostat settings
Check thermostat location
Check flow valve for
sticking in partially closed
position
Check radiators for air
Check to ensure radiators
are properly sized
Determine required heat
load
Check usage of domestic
hot water
Check to ensure piping is
properly sized
Increase gas manifold
pressure by opening up the
gas valve

Coupling worn or broken
Pump binding
Circulator motor burned
out
Wiring from operating
control defective
Settings too low
Bad location due to heat
buildup
Out of calibration
Flow valve not opening
fully
Radiators air bound
Radiators inadequate
Boiler too small for

Demand too large
Piping inadequate
Decrease in gas line

Remedy
Replace coupling
Replace pump
Replace circulator motor
Repair wiring
Increase setting
Move thermostat to an
alternate location
Recalibrate or replace
