5.Check

5-1. Check
(1) Power supply switch check
1) Open the lens cover.
2) Connect the power supply cable jig to the camera
and supply 3.0V±0.05V.
3) Insert the card and close the battery cover.
4) Set the mode dial to Still Photography.
5) Switch the camera power supply.
Check that the LED at the left of the viewfinder is green,
and a beep is heard.
6) Press the <Cancel> button if the date set message
appears.
(2) LCD check
1) Press the DISP button to light the LCD.
2) Check that the through screen and text display ap-
pear in the LCD monitor.
(3) Normal photography check (focus check)
1) Position the Siemens Star Chart 10cm from the cam-
era.
2) Set the focus selector switch to Macro.
Check that the macro symbol (a tulip) appears on the
LCD monitor.
3) Press the shutter button to take a photograph.
Check that the LED at the left of the viewfinder chang-
es from green to orange (recording) to green again.
Check that the preview screen appears in the LCD
monitor and that they are no abnormal electrical nois-
es or colors. Also check for abnormal sounds.
4) Position the Fine Resolution Chart (ZJ00398-100)
80cm from the camera.
5) Disable the flash.
6) Press the shutter button to take a photograph.
Check that the LED at the left of the viewfinder chang-
es from green to orange (recording) to green again.
Check that the preview screen appears in the LCD
monitor and that they are no abnormal electrical nois-
es or colors. Also check for abnormal sounds.
(4) Flash photography check
1) Set the flash to the Forced flash mode.
2) Take a photograph (any subject).
3) Set the flash to the Slow-sync mode.
4) Take a photograph (any subject).
5) Set the flash in the Red-eye reduction mode.
6) Take a photograph (any subject).
7) Set the flash in the Auto mode.
8) Take two photographs (any subject, one in a bright
location, and one in a dark location).
(5) Movie/Audio recording check
1) Select the Movie mode.
Check that the standby display appears in the LCD
monitor.
2) Press and release the shutter button.
Check that recording begins.
Check that the Recording display appears in the LCD
monitor.
3) Press and released the shutter button five seconds
later.
Recording is completed and the image is recorded
on the Smart Media.
(6) Movie/Audio playback check
1) Select the Playback mode.
2) Press the '+'key to playback the movie.
Check that the movie is played back in the LCD mon-
itor.
Check that the audio is heard in the camera speaker.
(9) Playback mode check
1) Playback the macro image taken in (3)-3).
Check that the year, month, and date are displayed
correctly.
Check that there is no problem with the image.

(10) Resolution check
1) Open the image taken in (3)-6) in Photo Shop on the
PC.
Check that resolution is 450TV/line or more at the
center, and 380TV/line or more at the periphery.
* The standard requires a resolution of 700TV/line or
more at the center, and 600TV/line or more at the pe-
riphery, however the values above are obtained with
the fine resolution chart.
(7) Card cover detect check
1) Open the battery cover and remove the Smart media.
Check that the power supply is OFF.
(8) Playback check
1) Insert the smart media removed in (7)-1) in a FinePix
camera with a video output function, and check for
problems with the playback image (video OUT).
2) Playback five frames taken in '(4) Flash photography
check', and check for problems with the image.
(11) Delete mode check
1) Select <Delete all frames> from the menu and press
the <OK> button.
Check that [ERASE OK?] is displayed.
2) Press the Run button again.
Check that the playback image is cleared.
(12) Audio operation check
1) Set the Power switch to the Music mode.
2) Connect the remote, and insert the audio card.
3) Press the Play button on the remote.
Check that the LCD on the remote is lit, and that the
first track is played back through the speaker.
4) Press the Next button.
Check that the second track is played back.
5) Clear the Power switch Music mode.
Check that the LCD display on the remote is cleared.
(13) Battery low check
1) Connect the power supply cable jig to DC_IN.
2) Set power supply voltage to 3.00±0.3V.
3) Set the Mode switch to Playback and switch power
ON.
Check that start-up is normal.
4) Set to pre-end voltage (2.05±0.02V).
Check that the battery warning is displayed.
5) Set to end voltage (1.90±0.02V).
Check that camera power supply is OFF.
(14) Current consumption check
1) Connect the power supply cable jig to DC_IN.
2) Set power supply voltage to 3.00±0.3V.
3) Set the Mode switch to the normal photography mode,
open the barrier, and switch the power supply ON.
If the LCD monitor is blank, press the <DISP> button
to switch the LCD monitor ON.
4) Check the current consumption (maximum 950mA)
after the through screen appears.
(15) Battery operation check
1) Insert the battery.
2) Select the Playback mode.
3) Check that the playback image is displayed.
(16) Clearing clock setup
1) Start the PC, connect one end of the USB cable to the
PC, and the other end to the camera.
2) Open the card cover, and while pressing the shutter
button, switch power ON.
3) Switch power OFF.
* No operation is necessary on the PC.
(17) Factory settings
1) Mode switch: Photography mode
2) Power switch: OFF
3) Check that the battery and memory card have not been
inserted in the camera.
4) Battery cover: Closed
5) Barrier: Closed
6) Focus select: Standard
