By now, you've probably become pretty good at using your com-
puter. However, you may be curious as to what is really going on
while you're pounding away at the keyboard. This chapter gives
you details of how your computer works.

What Is a Computer?

In one sense, your Satellite 110 Series notebook is a computer.
Technically speaking however, the processor chip, where the
actual computing takes place, is the computer. All the other com-
ponents are outside the computer because they either provide
information to the processor or receive the results of the proces-
sor's computations.
