DESCRIPTION
This section displays information about the power line adapters directly connected to
your computer. Typically this window will only display the PL100 which is directly
connected to your computer. If your computer has multiple network cards or if you
have a USB power line adapter connected to your computer then multiple local
devices may appear in this window.
This field displays the type of power line adapter connected to your computer. It
displays High Speed when the PL100 is connected to your computer as this
indicates that the power line ethernet adapter is capable of transmission speed of up
to 85 Mbps over the power line.
If you have a different power line adapter connected to your computer this field
displays:
Ethernet(turbo2) - to indicate a power line adapter capable of transmission
speed of up to 56 Mbps over the power line.
Ethernet(turbo) - to indicate a power line adapter capable of transmission speed
of up to 28 Mbps over the power line.
Ethernet - to indicate a power line adapter capable of transmission speed of up
to 14 Mbps over the power line.
USB - to indicate a USB power line adapter capable of transmission speed of up
to 14 Mbps over the power line.
Note: If the power line adapter connected to the computer running
the PL100 is an Ethernet or USB type then it will not be able to
find the higher speed power line adapters on your power line
network.
This field displays the MAC address of the corresponding local power line adapter
connected to your computer.
Different local devices may form power line networks with different remote power line
adapters. The Main screen only displays the remote devices which are part of the
power line network with the connected local device. If you have multiple local
devices, highlight a local device and click Connect to view the associated remote
power line adapters in the lower part of the screen.
The lower window displays information about remote power line adapters which are
part of your power line network. The text above the lower window displays how many
power line adapters are detected.
It displays Network Type: Public if your power line network uses HomePlug
(default) as the network name or it displays Network Type: Private if you changed
the network name to another value.
It also indicates whether the PL100 Configuration Utility automatically scans the
power line network for compatible power line adapters - Autoscan On or whether
this feature is disabled - Autoscan Off.
This field displays the name of the remote power line adapter. Choose a specific
device by highlighting it and click Rename to give it a name more meaningful to you.
This field displays the password which allows you to authenticate with this device.
Once you authenticate with the device you can change the power line network name
for that device. This field is blank if you haven't tried to authenticate with the device.
This is a visual indication of how good the communication between the local power
line adapter and this remote power line adapter is.
This field indicates the current communication speed between the local power line
adapter and this remote power line adapter over the power line.
This field indicates the MAC address of the remote power line adapter.
