Initializes D MAC -1 & DMAC-2.
Initialize RTC date/tim e.
Test for total mem ory installed in the system. Also, Check for DEL or ESC
keys to limit memor y test. Display total memory in the sys tem.
Mid POST initialization of chipset registers.
D et ect differ ent devices (Parallel ports, serial ports, and coprocessor in
CPU, ... etc.) successfully installed in the sys tem and update the BDA,
EBDA...etc.
Updates C MO S m emory size from memory found in m emory test.
Allocates m emory for Extended BIOS Data Area from base memory.
Pr ogr amming the m emory hole or any kind of implem entation that needs
an adjustment in system RAM size if needed.
Initializes NU M-LOCK status and programs the KBD typem atic r ate.
Initialize Int-13 and prepare for IPL detection.
Initializes IPL devices controlled by BIOS and option ROMs.
Generat e and write contents of ESCD in NVRam.
Log errors encountered during POST.
Display errors to the us er and gets the user response for error.
Execute BIOS setup if needed / requested. Check boot passw ord if
inst alled.
Late POST initialization of chipset registers.
Build ACPI tables (if ACPI is support ed)

Clean-up work needed before booting to OS.

Uninstall POST INT 1Ch vector and INT09h vec tor.
Pr epare BBS for Int 19 boot. Init MP tables.
End of POST initialization of chipset regist ers. D e- initializes the AD M
m odule.
Save system context for ACPI. Prepare CPU for OS boot including final
MTRR values.
Pass es cont rol to OS Loader (typically INT19h).
