5-4. lN CASE of DIFFICULTY
¡ Heterodyne tones may occur happen in the AIR band, and the HF band. This is not due to defective components.
. The problems described in this table are failures caused, in general, by improper operat¡on of the receiver, not by defective com-
ponents. Examine and check according to the following table.

Indicators do not light and no receiver
noise is heard when the power switch
is turned ON.
1. Bad power cable or connections.
2. Blown power supply fuse.
1. Check cable and connections.
2. Be sure to check that each conductor
has not been damaged by shortc¡r
cuiting, then replace with a new fuse
of the same rating.
Nothing is displayed or incorrect digits
are displayed when the power switch
is turned ON.
The microprocessor may malfunction if
the input voltage is too low.
Adjust the supply voltage to provide a
v o l t a g e o f 1 1 - 1 6 V D C ( 1 3 . 8 V D C
nominal).
No signal is received.
No sound is heard.
1. Bad antenna connections or incorrect
ANT switch position.
2. SOL control fully clockwise in FM-N
mode.
3. Incorrect mode for the selected fre-
quency.
1. Check antenna connection, or ANT
switch.
2. Turn the SOL control counterclock-
wise.
3. Press the MODE key to select the cor-
rect mode.
Howling occurs when using the ¡nter-
nal speaker.
This may occur from raising the volume
excessively because of poor reception.
1. Reduce the volume when using.
2. lf volume is insufficient. use and ex-
ternal speaker.
