Introduction
Similarities and Differences
While there are some similarities between regular (convection) dryers and
the condenser dryer incorporated into the combo, many of the repair
principles remain the same. These similarities and differences will be
detailed in subsequent slides.
Conventional dryers use a large heating element and forced air to dry the
clothes. Moisture from the laundry is exhausted to the outdoors with the
airflow.
The condenser dryer in the COMBO works on a different principal. The
moisture from the laundry is condensed from the airstream and air is
recirculated instead of being exhausted. This condensed moisture is then
pumped from the combo like wastewater.
The advantages are that no exhaust vent is required and most ventilation
restrictions do not apply to the combo. There is lower heat, resulting in less
damage to clothing. The disadvantage is that the drying cycle takes longer
than a conventional dryer.
