A caller's number will only appear on the display and calls will only be
saved in the call list if batteries have been inserted.
If no batteries have been inserted, or if the battery charge is critically low,
the symbol appears on the display when the handset is lifted.

1. Slide off the battery compartment cover from the edge of the base of the
housing (see diagram S. 3).
2. Insert the batteries (1.5 V Type AA alkaline) into the battery compart-
ment in accordance with the polarity symbols (+/-).
3. Replace the battery compartment cover.
