Brake Inspection

1. Check the brake system for
fluid leaks.
2. Check the brake pedal for
excessive travel or a spongy
feel.
3. Check the friction pads for
wear, damage and looseness.
Change pads when worn to
3/64" (1 mm).
4. Check the security and sur-
face condition of the disc.
Clean any grease using a
recommended brake cleaner or alcohol. Do not use spray lubricants
or other petroleum-based products. If you discover any damage
(cracks, excessive corrosion, warping) see your dealer for service
before operating.

Steering Wheel Inspection

Check the steering wheel for specified freeplay and smooth operation at
the intervals outlined in the Periodic Maintenance Chart beginning on
page 69.
1. Position the vehicle on level ground.
2. Lightly turn the steering wheel left and right.
3. There should be 0.8"-1.0" (20-25 mm) of freeplay.
4. If there is excessive freeplay or strange noises, or the steering feels
rough or "catchy," have the steering system inspected by an autho-
rized POLARIS dealer.
