Massachusetts installations (Warning): This product must be installed by a licensed plumber or
gas fitter when installed within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Other Massachusetts code
requirements: Flexible connector must not be longer than 36in., a shut off valve must be installed;
only direct vent sealed combustion products are approved for bedrooms/bathrooms. A carbon
monoxide detector is required in all rooms containing gas fired direct vent appliances. The fireplace
damper must be removed or welded in the open position prior to installation of a fireplace insert.

    NSTALLATION BOVE During the development of the DV48, we took into consideration that in some installations TV’s or flat panel monitors may be located above the mantel. Although we can not anticipate every possible installation variable, we took time to evaluate the suitability of the installation of a TV or Plasma display above the mantel. We carried out testing to evaluate what possible operating temperatures that may be experienced when the appliance was installed in an internal chase.

    NSTALLATION QUALIFIED INSTALLERS ONLY LANNING NSTALLATION Prior to starting your venting installation, refer to the section on Allowable Vent Configurations to make sure your plans fall into the allowable limits of horizontal and vertical installations. When planning your installation, it will be necessary to select the proper length of vent pipe for your particular requirements.

If your local code requires you to use only rigid pipe for gas supply, remove the flare fitting provided.

    ONTROL PERATIONS The Proflame GTMF is a modular remote control system that directs the functions of the DV48. The Proflame GTMF is configured to control the on/off main burner operation, its flame levels and provides on/off and Smart thermostatic control of the appliance. The system controls a remotely actuated 120V/60Hz power outlet, fan speed through six (6) levels and has a constantly powered 120V/60Hz power outlet.

  • Page 46 Remote Actuated Accent Lights The DV48 is shipped with two (2) firebox accent lights. They are connected to the auxiliary power outlet of the Proflame Fan Control Module. The lights can be turned on or off using the Auxiliary function on your remote control.
  • Page 47 Split Valve Operation The split flow operation on the DV48 turns off the rear section of the burner, greatly reducing the heat output of the unit. If you’d like to have the fireplace on but would not like to have as much heat in the room, you can turn off this function.

    URNER LAME Once your new DV48 has run through the “first fire”, (see section on first firing) check for proper flame appearance. A gas appliance’s performance is dependent on several factors. Vent configuration, fuel type, altitude and restrictor setting are all factors in how the final flame appears in the firebox. The fireplace must be operated for a minimum of 30 minutes or the flame will not normalize.

    NNUAL ERVICE The DV48 will require maintenance, which can usually be planned on an annual basis.
