Setup troubleshooting

Symptom
The Power light is
not lit
Software will not
install
Solution
1 Disconnect the power supply cord from the wall outlet,
and then from the printer.
2 Plug the cord all the way into the power supply on the
printer.
3 Plug the cord into an electrical outlet that other electrical
devices have been using.
4 If the Power button light is not on, press the
1 Remove the software CD.
2 Restart the computer.
3 When the desktop appears, reinsert the software CD.
4 Follow the instructions on the CD.
To prevent errors during installation:
1 Close all open programs.
2 Temporarily disable any anti-virus software. For help, see
your program documentation, or contact the software
manufacturer for support.
Note: After installation is complete, remember to re-enable
your anti-virus software.
1 From the desktop, double-click My Computer.
For Windows XP, click Start to access the My Computer
icon.
2 Double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
3 If necessary, double-click setup.exe.
4 Follow the instructions on the computer screen.
The printer supports these operating systems:
• Windows 98/Me
• Windows 2000
• Windows XP
1 Check the USB cable for any obvious damage.
2 Firmly plug the rectangular end of the USB cable into the
USB port of the computer. The USB port is marked with
the USB symbol.
3 Firmly plug the square end of the USB cable into the
back of the printer.
