Preparing Your Camera for Use Installing the batteries We highly recommend that you use only the specified rechargeable lithium-ion battery for your camera. Make sure that the power of the camera is off before inserting or removing the battery. To insert the battery: 1.
Charging the battery The battery charge status affects the performance of the camera. To maximize the performance and life of the battery, it is recommended that you fully charge the battery using the specified charger set (charger and AC power adapter), and then fully discharge it through the normal use at least one time.

• Be sure to format the SD memory card with this camera before the initial use. • To prevent valuable data from being accidentally erased from an SD memory card, you can slide the write-protect tab (on the side of the SD memory card) to “LOCK”.

Getting started 3.3.1 Turning the power on / off • Press the [ ] button until the digital camera turns on. Or, you can press the [ button when the camera is off to turn on the camera. • To turn the power off, press the [ ] button again.
3.3.5 Using the flash The flash is not only for taking pictures when there is insufficient light, but also when the subject is in shade or in backlight conditions. Pressing the flash button cycles your camera through the various flash modes. The flash will not activate when continuous shooting or movie recording.
Icon Drive mode Description Burst Keep pressing the shutter button fully to take a continuous shooting. Release the shutter button to stop shooting.
