Chapter 2. Setting Up the Express 3000 SP

USING SUPPLEMENTAL ANALOG DEVICES

With the Express 3000 SP you can use two analog devices such as a
telephone, FAX machine, analog modem (external or internal), an-
swering machine, or Caller ID box. (For detailed information on in-
stalling an analog modem, see Chapter 7.) Figure 2-4 depicts one
possible hardware configuration.

CONNECTING SUPPLEMENTAL DEVICES

Connect the supplemental devices to the two Plain Old Telephone Ser-
vice (POTS) interfaces (jacks) on the Express 3000 SP Rear Panel. These
RJ-11 jacks are labeled 1 and 2. In addition, an illustration of a tele-
phone identifies jack 1, and an illustration of a telephone resting on a
modem identifies jack 2 (see Figure 2-5).
