Messaging
Send your messages to your family and friends with text messaging (SMS) and multimedia
messaging (MMS). You can also set up an email account on your phone.
Text Messaging and Multimedia Messaging
With messaging, you can send and receive messages between your phone and another messaging-
ready phone. When you receive a new message, it will automatically display on your phone's screen.
In addition, messaging includes a variety of preset messages, such as "I can't talk now, please send a
message," that make composing messages fast and easy. Use your phone to customize your own
preset messages (up to 50 characters).
There are two types of messaging, text messaging (SMS) and multimedia messaging (MMS).
Text messages can be composed of up to six segments of 160 (140 in Spanish) characters each, for a
total of 960 (840 in Spanish) characters per text message. The current segment and total segment
count is displayed at the top of each segment. For example, (5/6) at the top of a segment would
indicate you are viewing segment five of a six-segment message.
Multimedia messages consist of both text and multimedia files, such as voice recordings, pictures, or
videos. Your DuraShock can send messages with voice recordings attached, and can receive and
play or display messages with voice recordings or pictures. Messages with videos attached may be
received, but the videos cannot be played on the phone.
Compose Messages
Easily compose and send a text or multimedia message from your phone.
1. Press
> Messaging.
Shortcut: Press MESSAGING (left softkey) in standby mode.
2. Select Send Message.
3. Select a recipient from the list or from the following options:
Go to Contacts to select a recipient from your Contacts. (Qualifying Contacts entries must
l
contain a phone number or an email address.)
MULTIPLE (left softkey) to select multiple recipients. Press CONTINUE (left softkey) when you
l
have finished selecting and entering recipients. (You may include up to 40 recipients per
message.)
