Troubleshooting

Problem
Vehicle display shows
"Phone Connected?"
message and phone
system will not operate.
Phone handset cannot
find BTUM device for
pairing. (Device name
is "BMW BTUM.")
Corrective Action
• BTUM may not be correctly
inserted in phone cradle. Please
check that blue LED on BTUM
is illuminated (solid or blinking).
• If vehicle is a 7 Series, please
verify that correct spacer
included in your kit has been
inserted correctly in phone
cradle along with BTUM.
• If problem persists, please
contact your BMW center.
• Please verify that BTUM is in
pairing mode. Refer to pairing
section of manual.
• Please verify that Bluetooth is
active on your phone handset.
• Once successfully in pairing
mode, please consult your phone
manual for instructions on pair-
ing your phone to a hands-free
device using Bluetooth.
