Note: The model that you are servicing might only have two screws.

4. To install the full-function monitor stand, position the full-function monitor stand over the computer so
that the four screw holes in the stand align with the corresponding holes in the computer cover. Then,
install the four screws and the four rubber cushions to secure the full-function monitor stand to the
computer.

Removing the computer cover

This section provides instructions on how to remove the computer cover.
Attention: Before you replace any FRU, be sure to read and understand Chapter 1 "Safety information" on
page 1. These precautions and guidelines will help you work safely.
CAUTION:
Turn off the computer and wait three to five minutes to let the computer cool before removing the
computer cover.
To remove the computer cover, do the following:
1. Remove all media from the drives and turn off all attached devices and the computer. Then, disconnect
all power cords from electrical outlets and disconnect all cables that are connected to the computer.
2. Place a soft, clean towel or cloth on the desk or surface. Hold the sides of your computer and gently lay
it down so that the screen is against the surface and the cover is facing up.
3. Remove the computer stand. See "Removing and installing the computer stand" on page 73.
