Electric starter does not
operate
Check electrical outlet.
Check power cord.
Starter operates, but
engine will not start
Check fuel delivery to
engine.
Check fuel condition.
Check for spark.

Possible cause
No electric current from outlet.
Defective power cord.
Possible cause
Fuel valve is OFF.
Stale or old fuel.
Spark plug cap off.
Improper gap or deposits in
the spark plug(s) gap.
Correction
Try known good electrical
outlet. Start engine by using
the recoil starter.
Try another power cord.
Start engine with the recoil
starter.
Correction
Turn fuel valve to ON
(page13).
Be sure tank has fresh fuel.
Drain carburetor (page32).
Make sure cap is
connected.
Verify that spark plugs are
free of deposits, and have
proper gap (page25).
