SPARK ARRESTER MAINTENANCE
(optional part)
In some areas, it is illegal to operate an engine without a spark arrester.
Check local laws and regulations. A spark arrester is available from
authorized Honda servicing dealers.
The spark arrester must be serviced every 100 hours to keep it function-
ing as designed.
1. Allow the engine to cool, then remove the special screw from the
muffler and remove the spark arrester.
SPECIAL SCREW
2. Use a brush to clean carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen.
SCREEN
3. The spark arrester must be free of breaks and holes. Replace, if
necessary.
4. Install the spark arrester and the muffler in the reverse order of
disassembly.
