    Overview of LukWerks LukWerks has three primary components: Smart Cameras, Powerful Software, and Remote Viewing capability. Luk is the name of our cameras and Werks is the name of our software, together they make LukWerks. We call remote viewing My LukWerks.

    Getting Started Overview WiLife’s Werks application is very easy to deploy because of an installation process that we designed to be user-friendly. Depending on how comfortable you feel installing the application, you can choose to use the QuickStart instructions (found in the Installation Kit) or the comprehensive installation instructions provided in this chapter.

These applications protect your computer from unwanted network connections, which sometimes are the result of viruses. Because Werks creates a new network using your home wiring and uses your Internet connection for email and remote viewing, you will need to configure your firewall to allow these connections.

    Setting System Options The default configuration of your LukWerks system provides you with all of the basic features activated allowing you to have your own professional video surveillance system running in minutes. However, Werks gives you the ability to change the settings in order to enable additional features like email alerts and remote viewing.

By design, Firewalls and Internet Filters attempt to control communications on both of the internal LukWerks network and your Internet connection.
