  • Page 13 THE QUANTUM JAZZY 1420 The Quantum Jazzy 1420 has two main assemblies: the seat and the power base. See figures 5 and 6. Typically, the seat assembly includes the armrests, seatback, and seat base. The power base assembly includes two motor/brake assemblies, two drive wheels, two anti-tip wheels, two caster wheels, two batteries, and wiring harnesses.

  • Page 16 Active-Trac Suspension The Quantum Jazzy 1420 is equipped with Active-Trac Suspension (ATS). ATS is a system designed to make the power chair traverse different types of terrain and obstacles while maintaining smooth operation. With ATS, the front anti-tip wheels work in conjunction with the motor suspension to help you maneuver over obstacles in excess of two inches in height.

    WARNING! Do not pick up the seat frame by the armrests. They are free to pivot, and you may lose control of the seat if they do so, resulting in personal injury or damage to the chair.     CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your Quantum Jazzy 1420 is a sophisticated power chair. Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of these checks, but others require assistance from a Quantum Rehab Specialist. Preventive maintenance is very important.

    Your power chair should be stored in a dry place, free from temperature extremes. When storing, disconnect the batteries from the power chair. See VI. “Batteries and Charging.” WARNING!     Disconnect both batteries before load testing and follow the directions that come with the load tester. If either one of the batteries fails the load test, replace both of them.
