8 Don't be tempted to reheat coffee in the coffee maker. You'll damage the coffee maker and
the coffee will be undrinkable.
9 Clean the filter holder, filter, and carafe after each use. Residue from a previous brew will spoil
your coffee.

10 Sit the coffee maker on a stable, level, heat-resistant surface.
11 Route the cable so it doesn't overhang, and can't be tripped over or caught.
12 Don't plug it in yet.

13 Remove the carafe from the hotplate.
14 Use the grip to open the lid, and expose the reservoir.
15 Use the carafe to fill the reservoir, to avoid overfilling.
16 Press the lever at the rear of the carafe lid, above the handle, to open the carafe lid.
17 Fill with at least 2 cups of water, but not above the 10 mark.
18 Close the reservoir lid.
19 Close the carafe lid.
20 Don't replace the carafe yet.
21 Press the drawer release button and open the drawer.
22 If you're using coffee beans, jump to point 26.

23 Put filter-ground coffee into the filter. The amount will vary with the type of coffee and
individual taste, but we suggest two rounded teaspoons per cup of water.
24 Close the drawer, then replace the carafe on the hotplate.
25 Jump to point 31.

26 Remove the lid from the coffee mill.
27 Fill the mill with coffee beans.
28 Replace the lid.
29 Turn the mill till the d is next to the setting you require – fine h coarse.
30 Close the drawer, then replace the carafe on the hotplate.

31 Put the plug into the power socket.

32 Ignore the clock.
33 Use the e f g button to select the coffee strength e = light, f = medium, g = dark.
34 If you're using coffee beans, use the 2-10 button to set the number of cups you want. This
determines the length of time the mill operates.
35 If you're making less than 6 cups of coffee, press the 2-4 button, to turn the brew strength
feature on. 2-4 will appear on the display (see "brew strength 2-4").
36 The brew strength feature will only work if the number of cups is set to 2 or 4.
37 Press the Y button if you're using coffee beans, press the / button if you're using ground
coffee.
38 The light next to the button will come on.
39 If you're using coffee beans, the mill will operate.
40 Shortly afterwards, coffee will start to drip into the carafe.
41 When it's done, the hotplate will keep the carafe warm.
42 After about an hour, chemical changes start to affect the flavour. It's best to make a fresh pot.
