To do that, you need to know exactly how to get the best out of your LK240 and that is what this manual is all about. In the next few pages you will find out everything you need to know about how to set up the LK240, and how to use it to get the best possible results.
This enables it to be left on with minimum power consumption. An indicator light on the front panel remains red when the LK240 is in standby and green when it is powered up, telling you at a glance the operational status of the LK240.

The LK240 provides two input sockets to make it easy to daisy chain multi-amplifier systems, allowing you to boost the output power of your system, or take advantage or bi-amping and tri-amping. Loudspeakers can be bi-wired, or tri-wired to the LK240 by the use of the four loudspeaker sockets to obtain even higher sound quality.

To further enhance performance, you can use two or three LK240s to bi-amp or tri-amp to the loudspeakers, each LK240 driving the bass, midrange, and treble signals separately. When bi-amping or tri-amping the highest possible performance can be obtained by removing the passive crossover units from the loudspeaker and fitting active crossover modules to the LK240 to accurately divide the signal into the appropriate frequency bands.
Setting up the LK240 This chapter explains how to unpack your Linn LK240 Single Speaker Power Amplifier, and how to install it with your other hi-fi components. Unpacking Before connecting the LK240 to the mains supply, you should check the following: •...

Selecting the correct voltage The LK240 is factory-set for a 230 volts mains supply and must not be connected to a mains supply before it is adjusted for your local voltage. To do this, slide the red voltage switch at the back of the unit until the appropriate voltage is displayed.
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of the LK240 may not correspond with the coloured marking identifying the terminals in your plug, proceed as follows: Connect this wire To the terminal Green and yellow Marked with the letter E, or by the earth symbol, or coloured green or green and yellow.
SPARE SENSITIVITY Connecting the mains supply Connect the LK240 to a mains supply using the mains cord supplied. Note that the LK240 should be switched off before connecting or disconnecting the plug on the rear panel, or you may generate surges which could damage other components in your hi-fi system.
If American, the socket will be suitable for banana type connectors. Operation To turn on the LK240 amplifier, press the power switch on the front panel. Signal detector sensitivity The LK240 uses signal sense circuitry to detect the presence of an audio input signal.
Refer to the section Positioning , page 7. If the LK240 is overloaded it will power down, and the indicator light on the front panel will flash green and red. Turn the LK240 off and check the loads you are applying to it.
