8. Install a new air filter element by in-
serting it into the air filter case,
then installing the screws.
CAUTION:
G Make sure that the air filter ele-
ment is properly seated in the
air filter case.
G
The engine should never be op-
erated without the air filter ele-
ment installed, otherwise the
piston(s) and/or cylinder(s) may
become excessively worn.
9. Remove the air filter check hose
from the air filter check hose hold-
er.
PERIODIC MAINTENANCE AND MINOR REPAIR
10. Remove the clamp from the check
hose, and then remove the plug to
drain any accumulated water.

11. Install the plug and the clamp.
12. Install the air filter check hose.
13. Install the air filter case cover by in-
stalling the screws.
14. Install the air filter case by pushing
it onto the air filter case joint, and
then tightening the clamp bolt.
15. Install the air filter case by install-
ing the bolts.
16. Install the fuel tank as follows.
a. Install the foam damper.

b. Place the fuel tank in the origi-
nal position, and then connect
fuel hose B and the hoses
shown.
WARNING
Before installing the fuel tank,
make sure that the fuel hoses
are not damaged. If any fuel
hose is damaged, do not start
the engine but have a Yamaha
dealer replace the hose, other-
wise fuel may leak.
Make sure that the fuel hoses
are properly connected and
routed, and not pinched.
c. Install the nuts.
