Benefits of hibernation
The hibernation feature provides the following benefits:

Saves data to the hard disk when the computer automatically shuts
down because of a low battery.
If the hibernation mode is not enabled in the Hibernate window of
Power Management Properties in windows 98, the computer will shut
down in Standby mode when the battery gets low. If battery power
becomes depleted while the computer is in Standby mode, the data held in
RAM will be lost.

You can return to your previous working environment immediately
when you turn on the computer.

You can use the panel power off feature.

Starting Hibernation

To enter Hibernation mode, follow the steps below.
1. Click Start.
2. Click Hibernate.
The computer will also enter Hibernate mode automatically when you:

Press the power button.

Close the lid.
First, however, make the appropriate settings according to the steps
below.
1. Open the Windows Control Panel and double-click the Power
Management icon.
2. Select the Hibernate window and select the Enable Hibernate
support check box.
3. Go back to the Control Panel and double-click the Power Saver
icon.
4. Select Power Properties, click the Details button and open the
System Power Mode window.
5. Enable the desired Hibernation settings for pressing the power button
and closing the lid.
