from the MGC. The MC handles the RTP payload and converts it into analog for the subscriber's
phone. The MCs are also known as an SC's slaves. You can install a second VOP card to back up the
H.248 interface's SC. If the active SC fails, the backup SC takes over the processing of the H.248
protocol messages so the H.248 interface can continue to provide service.

Remote Ringback Tone Generation
The VOP can send a remote ringback tone to the caller so they hear that the phone connected to
the VOP is ringing.
Call Overload Protection
You can configure how many calls the H.248 interface is to handle. This protects against
overloading the VOP cards or the MGC.
