Bell

When the host receives the bar code sent by the IS1000 laser reader, the host sends the
radio base the BELL character (07 hexa) if it rejects the bar code.
This mode is only available when using the RS232 interface.
The laser reader waits for acknowledgment from the radio base during time-out T1, whose
default value is 200 ms. When it receives the acknowledgment from the base, the laser
reader sounds a short high-pitched beep (transmission OK). If it does not receive the
acknowledgment from the radio base, the laser reader sounds a long low-pitched beep
(transmission not OK).
Then the laser reader waits for the BELL character from the host (if the bar code is
rejected) during time-out T2, whose default value is 3 s. During this time-out, the operator
can read another code.
When the laser reader receives the BELL character, it sounds a BELL beep and
acknowledges it to the radio base. The radio base waits for this acknowledgment during
time-out T1, whose default value is 200 ms.
When a BELL is sent at the same time as a new bar code is scanned, it cannot be
guaranteed that the bar code will be sent to the host.
When a BELL character is sent outside time-out T2, it is lost.
To configure this mode and timers, refer to the IS1000 Configuration Guide.
