Removing the Doors

Unplug the refrigerator from its electrical
a
outlet.
Empty all door shelves, including the dairy
b
compartment.
CAUTION: Do not let either door drop to the
floor. To do so could damage the door stop.
Remove the Fresh Food Door
Remove the top hinge cover (lift up on the
a
outside edge and pull off).
Tape the door shut with masking tape at both
b
upper corners.
With 5/16 hex socket driver, remove the 3
c
screws that hold the top hinge to the cabinet.
Lift the hinge and spacer straight up to free the
d
hinge pin from the socket in the top of the door.
Remove the tape, tilt the door away from the
e
cabinet and lift it to free its bottom socket from
the hinge pin on the center hinge bracket.
Set the door on a non-scratching surface.

Remove the Freezer Door
Tape the door shut with masking tape at both
a
upper corners.
Remove the hinge pin with a 5/16 hex socket
b
driver.
Remove the tape and tilt the door away from the
c
cabinet. Remove and save the washer on top of
the door socket.
Lift the door straight up to free its bottom socket
d
from the pin in the bottom hinge bracket.
If the hinge pin and washer stick in the bottom
door socket, remove them, place the pin in the
outermost hole in the bottom hinge bracket and
slip the washer over the pin.
NOTE: The hinge rod (on some models) may fall
out of the door. If this happens, set the rod
aside. It will be replaced later.
