I see in manual where you can change needle position on zigzag stitch but don't see where you can change on straight stitch. Once you change zigzag it goes back to center setting for the needle?

To change the needle position for straight stitch on a JUKI HZL-F series sewing machine, you can use the stitch pattern selection options. By default, the straight stitch with the center needle position is selected when the machine is turned on. If you adjust the zigzag stitch, the machine does not automatically revert to the center needle position. You will need to manually reselect the center needle position if needed.
