Improperly seated valve.
Tighten threaded connections.
WATER LEAKS
Inspect other appliances near w ater heater.
Refer toCONDENSATION.
Install thermal expansion tank (DO NOT p lug T &P valve).
LEAKING T&P VALVE Check relief valve f orproper operation
(DO NOT p lug T &P valve).
High sulfate ormineral content inwater supply. Drain a nd flush heater thoroughly, then refill.
SMELLY ODORS
Bacteria inwater supply. Chlorinate oraerate water supply.
Gas control knob n ot p ositioned correctly. Refer toLIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS.
Main g assupply off. Turn onmain g as shutoff valve.
PILOT WILL NOT L IGHT Thermocouple malfunction. Replace pilot assembly and/or thermocouple.

BURNER WILL N OT Thermocouple malfunction. Replace pilot assembly and/or thermocouple.
STAY L IT Defective Gas C ontrol. Replace Gas C ontrol.
Dirty p ilot burner. Clean pilot assembly.
PILOT OUTAGE Thermocouple malfunction. Replace pilot assembly and/or thermocouple.
Thermocouple tipisnot i ncontact with pilot flame, insert thermocouple correctly.
Defective Gas C ontrol. Replace Gas C ontrol.
