Installation Installation CAUTION Please read these instructions carefully before installing and attempting to operate the appliance. CAUTION The exhaust air from the chimney hood must not be discharged into a flue or chimney The exhaust air from the chimney hood must not be discharged into a flue or chimney which is which is used for exhausting the fumes from other appliances burning gas or fuels. - Page 3 Installation continued Wall mounting. Remove the aluminium grease filters (perforated plates) by gently pulling down on the handles so that the interior of the cooker hood and the keyhole slots are exposed. The hood must be mounted directly over the cooking area. The minimum distance between the cooking surface and the underside of the hood must be 650 mm.

Option 2 - Outside venting Fit the plastic spigot to the main body using the self tapping screws supplied Connect a 125 mm. diameter flexible duct straight onto the spigot flange. Ensure that the duct vents to the outside air. To prevent the risk of fire, do not lead the duct into an existing chimney or flue as the duct could carry airborne combustible grease and fats Fit the larger of the two chimney pieces to the main body using the two self tapping... -

Operation Switch on the chimney hood prior to cooking. Select the fan speed you would require depending on the type of cooking being done. 3 for high extraction level, 2 for medium and 1 for low. If required, you can illuminate the cooking area by switching the hood lights on. Leave the hood running for a short period after the cooking has been completed to clear any smoke and odours. -

Cleaning and maintaining stainless steel chimney hoods On stainless steel models, some components have a coloured protective film which protects against accidental scratching. This film should be removed before operating the hood. Stainless steel is not adversely affected by normal household use but because of it’s reputation for durability, it is sometimes assumed to be indestructible, and therefore subjected to misuse or even abuse. -

Service If you have followed the instructions and still have a problem, contact the nearest Defy Service Centre. They will be able to advise you on any aspect of the hood or send a qualified technician to repair it.
