Removing the Thermal-Cooling Assembly
There is one thermal-cooling assembly for both the integrated video and the processor.
CAUTION:
Before performing the following procedures, read the safety instructions in your Product Information Guide.
NOTICE:
To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such
as the back panel) on the computer.
NOTICE:
Disconnect the computer and any attached devices from electrical outlets, and remove any installed batteries.
1. Follow the instructions in
"Preparing to Work Inside the
2. Remove the
hard
drive.
3. Remove the
center control
cover.
4. Remove the
display
assembly.
5. Remove the keyboard.
6. Remove the
palm
rest.
7. Loosen in consecutive order the eight captive screws. They are labeled "1" through "4" on each side of the thermal-cooling assembly.

NOTICE:
To ensure maximum cooling for the microprocessor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the thermal-cooling assembly. The oils in your skin
reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal pads.
8. Lift the thermal-cooling assembly straight up and remove it from the system board.
