    WRT-410A. 4. WLAN type If WRT-410A is installed in an 802.11b and 802.11g mixed WLAN, its performance will be reduced significantly. Because every 802.11g OFDM packet needs to be preceded by an RTS-CTS or CTS packet exchange that can be recognized by legacy 802.11b devices.

    Default User Name and Password are both “admin”. Click “OK”. 4. When the first time you enter WRT-410A, Setup Wizard will pop up. Please refer to our Quick Installation Guide to use the Setup Wizard for initial configuration. Setup Wizard will guide you through configuration step by step.

    Start IP: Type an IP address to serve as the start of the IP range that DHCP will use to assign IP addresses to all LAN devices connected to the WRT-410A. End IP: Type an IP address to serve as the end of the IP range that DHCP will use to assign IP addresses to all LAN devices connected to the WRT-410A.

    L2TP Password: Type your L2TP password. L2TP Retype password: Confirm your L2TP password again. Maximum Idle Time: Specify the time that will elapse before the WRT-410A times out of a connection. MTU: Type the MTU value in the field. Auto-reconnect: If this function is enabled, WRT-410A will try to rebuild Internet connection once the link is down.

    Time Zone: Select your time zone from the pull-down list. Synchronized the clock with…: Select to synchronize the time automatically or manually. Default NTP Server: Type the NTP server IP address in the field to enable the WRT-410A to automatically synchronize the time with Internet NTP server.

    3.1.5 Dynamic DNS You can configure WRT-410A to use DDNS service if you already have a registered DDNS account. DDNS: You can enable or disable DDNS function here. Server Address: WRT-410A supports 3 DDNS provider: DynDns.org, EasyDns.com, and No-IP.com.

    SSID Broadcast: Enable or disable a Service Set Identifier broadcast. When enabled, the SSID of the WRT-410A is sent to wireless enabled devices on the area. Set the WRT-410A’s SSID in the Basic Setting screen. Enabling this function may cause unauthorized user to connect your wireless networks.
  • Page 20 The WRT-410A supports WPA and WPA2. For WPA authentication, the wireless stations must use TKIP cipher. For WPA2 authentication, the wireless stations must use AES cipher. If WPA-PSK or WPA2-PSK is selected, the screen appears as below. Please enter a hard-to-guess passphrase (between 8 and 63 characters) in the field.

    WLAN. 11g Only Mode: Enabling 11g only mode maximizes the performance of WRT-410A in a pure 802.11g WLAN, but 802.11b clients are not allowed to connect to it. Disabling this option allows both 802.11g and 802.11b clients to connect to WRT-410A.

    Firmware Version: Displays the latest build of the WRT-410A firmware. After upgrading the firmware in Tools -> Firmware, check this to ensure that your firmware was successfully upgraded. WAN: This field displays the WRT-410A WAN interface MAC address, DHCP client status, IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS.

    Note: Displays the IP address of the communication. 3.3.3 Log Settings This screen allows you to set WRT-410A logging parameters. SMTP Server: Type the SMTP server address for the email that the log will be sent to in the next field.

    Send to: Type an email address for the log to be sent to. Click “Email Log Now” to send the current log immediately. Syslog Server: Type the IP address of the Syslog Server if you want the WRT-410A to listen and receive incoming SysLog messages.

    3.4 Routing 3.4.1 Static You can set parameters by which the WRT-410A forwards data to its destination if your network has a static IP address. Network Address: Type the static IP address your network uses to access the Internet. Your ISP or network administrator provides you with this information.

    Receive: Select the option to set the desired transmit parameters. Disabled, RIP 1 or RIP 2. 3.4.3 Routing Table This screen will show you the routing table of WRT-410A. The routing table is a database created by the WRT-410A that displays the network interconnection topology.

    Network Address: Displays the network IP address of the connected node. Network Mask: Displays the network (subnet) mask of the connected node. Gateway Address: Displays the gateway address of the connected node. Interface: Displays whether the node is connected via a WAN or LAN. Metric: Displays the metric of the connected node.

IP addresses falling between this value and the Range End are not allowed to access the Internet. Range End: Type the minimum address for the IP range.     3.5.2 Virtual Server This screen enables you to create a virtual server via the WRT-410A. If the WRT-410A is set as a virtual server, remote users requesting Web or FTP services through the WAN are directed to local servers in the LAN.

    Enable: Click to enable or disable the virtual server. Name: Type a descriptive name for the virtual server. Protocol: Select the protocol (TCP or UDP) you want to use for the virtual server. Private Port: Type the port number of the computer on the LAN that is being used to act as a virtual server.

    Enable: Click to enable or disable the application profile. When enabled, users will be able to connect to the application via the WRT-410A WAN connection. Click Disabled on a profile to prevent users from accessing the application on the WAN.

    This screen enables you to set up the firewall. The WRT-410A provides basic firewall functions, by filtering all the packets that enter the WRT-410A using a set of rules. The rules are in an order sequence list: the lower the rule number is, the higher the priority the rule has.

    System Name: Displays the name given to the WRT-410A. System Location: Displays the location of the WRT-410A (normally, the DNS name). System Contact: Displays the contact information for the person responsible for the WRT-410A. Community: SNMP system name for exchanging SNMP community messages. The name can be used to limit SNMP messages passing through the network.

    Remote IP Range: Type the range of IP addresses that can be used for remote access. Allows to Ping WAN Port: This function allows remote users to ping WRT-410A WAN port IP address. Enable: Click to enable or disable WAN port pinged function.

    3.7.2 Settings This screen allows you to save settings as a profile and load profiles for different circumstances. You can also load the factory default settings, and run a setup wizard to configure the WRT-410A and WRT-410A interface. Save Settings: Click to save the current configuration as a profile that you can load when necessary.
