monitor(s) to determine whether EDID (Extended Display Identification Data)
information is available. If EDID information is available, it will be copied and
used; otherwise a default set of data, stored within the AV4PRO-DVI, will be
substituted. You can also optionally choose to prevent the unit from seeking
new EDID information and instead rely only on stored data.
EDID Emulation
The AV4PRO-DVI units use our EDID Emulation feature to ensure that the
collected EDID information (up to two pages) is correctly supplied to every
connected computer, whether it is currently selected or not:

Hybrid DDC
In addition to EDID Emulation, all AV4PRO-DVI units provide a feature known
as Hybrid DDC. This feature supports the industry standard DDC/CI (Command
Interface) protocol and allows full two-way communication between the
display and the currently selected computer. This allows the computer to make
adjustments to the display (e.g. brightness, colour balance, etc.), an important
requirement for certain professional applications. Hybrid DDC can also transfer
the authorisation signals that are required by HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital
Content Protection) compliant video sources and displays that ensure high
definition copy protection.
